How should you prepare for a home café day?
Check the information before setting off
The lists of cafés and menus may be updated. Some cafés may change their opening hours or stop selling earlier if they run out of food.
Don't plan too many stops
A visit to a home café often takes longer than a visit to a regular eatery. A realistic plan for one day is about four to six cafés.
Bring cash
Payment options vary by café. Some places accept card payments or bank transfers, while others accept cash only.
Ask about allergens
Home café menus may change. If you have a severe allergy or follow a special diet, it is advisable to ask about a suitable dish before visiting.
Book transport to the islands early
For events on Hiiumaa, Vormsi, Prangli, Naissaar, and Abruka, check ferry connections and the last return departures well in advance.
Be considerate of local residents
Many cafés operate in actual homes and on private property. Park only in designated areas and follow the hosts' instructions.
