Nädalavahetuse taust (28.-30. november 2025) : Tallinna Jõuluturg ja varajane muusika

Nädalavahetuse taust (28.-30. november 2025) : Tallinna Jõuluturg ja varajane muusika

Tallinna Jõuluturg Raekoja platsil

Tallinna Jõuluturg on traditsioon, milleta on novembri lõppu ja detsembrit raske ette kujutada.

  • Where? Raekoja plats, Tallinn

  • When? every day 21.11–28.12, 10:00–20:00; hot drinks until 22:00 (Fri–Sat until 23:00)

  • More information: https://christmasmarket.ee

Siin saab enne või pärast kontserti jalutada, juua glögi, osta käsitööd ja lasta lastel karusselliga sõita. Väga hea „baaspeatus“, millega kombineerida pea kõiki teisi nädalavahetuse plaane.

VIII varajase muusika festival “Tallinn feat. Reval”

At the end of November, the early music festival “Tallinn feat. Reval” will fill the Old Town and Arvo Pärdi Keskus with the sounds of early music.

Several of the concerts listed below take place within this very series – if early music is your thing, the festival pass is seriously worth considering.

Friday, 28 November: ballet, symphony, rock and stand-up

Forsythe & Looris – contemporary ballet at Rahvusooper Estonia

Rahvusooper Estonia brings together two choreographers on stage: William Forsythe’s legendary work “In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated” and Linnar Looris’s new ballet “30,75”.

If you have long been planning to go to the ballet but would like something more contemporary than classic fairy tales, this is a very good starting point.

ERSO concert series “Puhas kuld” – Concert I

Sama õhtu teises otsas alustab Eesti Riiklik Sümfooniaorkester uut sari-kava „Puhas kuld“, kus kõlab ajatu klassika. Dirigendipuldis Neeme Järvi.

If Beethoven, Haydn, and other time-honoured composers speak to you, this Friday evening is sure to lift your spirits.

Viennese salon music in the time of Franz Schubert

A concert in the early music festival programme transports the listener to a 19th-century Viennese salon, with the csakan and romantic guitar sounding on stage.

Hea võimalus teha enne suuremat õhtust kontserti üks lühem kultuuripaus – lõpp on parasjagu varajane, et jõuda edasi ERSO või balleti etendusele.

Gunnar Graps 74 – 22nd Memorial Concert

For fans of rock and Estonian music history, another Gunnar Graps memorial concert will take place at Kochi Aidad.

Laval on terve rida muusikuid ja lugusid, mida teavad pea kõik. Kui otsid reede õhtuks rock-kontserti Tallinnas, on see väga tugev kandidaat.

Poetic and musical evening “Chichibabin Jazz”

Those who prefer a small, intimate atmosphere to a large hall can go to Südalinna Teater for a poetic musical evening where poetry and jazz intertwine.

An hour of good words and music – perfect if you want to visit the Christmas market afterwards or go out for dinner with friends.

Porkuni Bluusbänd – blues evening in Rakvere

Ka Rakveres käib elu – Buena Vista Sofa Clubis annab kontserdi Porkuni Bluusbänd.

Kui tahad nädalavahetust alustada Lääne-Virumaal hea elava bluusiga, on see väga mõnus variant.

Stand-up “Rogier Bak To The Rescue!” (in English)

Teater-baar Heldeke! offers a dose of English-language humour on Friday – Rogier Bak takes the stage with his solo show “To The Rescue!”.

(Select “Rogier Bak To The Rescue!” from the list.)
A good choice if you just want to laugh on a Friday evening and keep the atmosphere light.

Saturday, 29 November: big stages and sound journeys

World Hits Symphony – Universe Orchestra in Tartu

Universe Orchestra will take the stage in Tartu on Saturday evening with its programme “World Hits Symphony”. This means that well-known hits will be performed by a large symphony orchestra – Queen, ABBA, Hans Zimmer, Metallica and many more.

A very good choice if you want classical and pop music in one package – also well suited to those who do not usually attend symphony concerts.

“TARTU. ARVO PÄRT. Sacred Minimalism.”

That same evening, you can experience Arvo Pärt's minimalism and serene spirituality at Pauluse kirik.

If you're looking for a deeper and quieter Saturday evening after visiting the Christmas market or touring the city during the day, this is ideal.

Liisi Koikson Trio – Advent concert at Palmse mõis

A cosy Advent concert will take place at Palmse mõis in Lääne-Virumaa, featuring Liisi Koikson Trio.

Manor atmosphere + Liisi Koikson's voice = a very romantic and peaceful Saturday evening.

Viru Varietee 2025 / Buffet Package

If you are in the mood for a little glamour, dancing and a good dinner, the choice is simple – Viru Varietee 2025.

One package includes a show, a buffet and a social evening – ideal if you want an all-in-one solution without having to plan everything separately.

Unquiet thoughts – an evening of early music at Hopneri maja

Taking place as part of the early music festival, “Unquiet thoughts” brings together the music of John Dowland and the vocal ensemble thélème.

Before or after the concert, you can stroll around the Christmas market in the same square—an ideal Old Town combo.

Kadri Voorand and Mihkel Mälgand – “Kontsertrännak” at Pühali keskus

A concert journey by Kadri Voorand and Mihkel Mälgand will take place at Pühali Hea Elu Keskus in Pihali village, Rapla County – music that invites you to breathe along and be present.

A good choice if you want to get out of the city for a while at the weekend and are looking for something that also engages with your inner world.

BLADEE – Martyr Tour @ Helitehas

For those seeking Tallinn nightlife, Helitehas brings Swedish alternative rap and electronic music star BLADEE to the stage on Saturday evening as part of the “Martyr Tour”.

If your ideal Saturday means powerful bass, stage lights and dancing, then this event is just for you.

Sunday, 30 November: family day and Advent atmosphere

FROZEN or a magical adventure in an icy world – Viimsi Artium

On Sunday, a very natural choice for the family is to head towards Viimsi Artium, where the dance performance “FROZEN või maagiline seiklus jäämaailma” (in Estonian) will take place.

The story is familiar to both children and adults, with plenty of colour, costumes and playfulness as well.

Advent concert “Jõuluootus” at Anija mõis

The beginning of Advent can be celebrated at Anija mõis, where the concert “Jõuluootus” will take place. Young musicians from MUBA will perform.

The manor's warm atmosphere and the young musicians' energy make this a very enjoyable Sunday outing.

“Agulihärrad” – Indrek Ojari and Argo Aadli

A cultural Sunday can be spent in Tallinn, where Indrek Ojari and Argo Aadli will perform their spoken-word and music evening “Agulihärrad” at Vatican.

A good choice if you enjoy powerful writing, fine acting and a slightly nostalgic story about Tallinn.

Samuel Mariño and Eesti Barokkorkester – festival finale

The early music festival “Tallinn feat. Reval” will conclude with the rapidly rising male soprano Samuel Mariño together with Eesti Barokkorkester.

If you want to end the weekend with truly top-class music, this concert is a very strong finale.

Forsythe & Looris – Sunday performance

If you missed Friday’s ballet or wanted to save it for the end of the weekend, Forsythe & Looris will also be performed on Sunday.

Ballet is a great way to add another memorable experience to the weekend before the working week begins again.

Formally a family production, but definitely not just for “small children” – a wordless clown show with music, movement and visuals that are thoroughly grown-up. Feel free to go with a group of friends if you enjoy physical theatre and clowning.

How to put together your ideal weekend?

If you find it difficult to decide where to start, first think about what feeling you need most.

  • If you want culture and a Christmas atmosphere:
choose a combination centred around Tallinna Jõuluturg – ERSO or ballet on Friday, “Unquiet thoughts” and Viru Varietee on Saturday, Samuel Mariño or “Agulihärrad” on Sunday.

  • If Tartu and Southern Estonia appeal to you:
add Universe Orchestra “World Hits Symphony” and Arvo Pärt's sacred music concert to your Saturday plans, and on Sunday, head back via the Advent concert at Anija mõis.

  • If the focus is on family:
keep Sunday FROZEN and Anija mõis, but add a leisurely visit to the Christmas market or a concert at Palmse mõis on Friday or Saturday.

  • If you're looking for parties and nightlife:
on Friday, Gunnar Graps 74 or stand-up at Heldeke; on Saturday, BLADEE at Helitehas; and on Sunday, a more relaxing cultural experience to start the new week in balance.

Whatever combination you choose, this weekend vividly demonstrates just how many exciting things are happening in Estonia at the end of November. Plan ahead, buy your tickets and let a little more light and music into the dark season.
