Tallinn Coffee Festival 2026: the 10th anniversary festival brings leading figures in coffee, tea and gastronomy to Kultuurikatel
Tallinn is preparing for the major spring event for all enthusiasts of quality drinks and gastronomic experiences. On 25 and 26 April 2026, the tenth anniversary edition of Tallinn Coffee Festival (TLNCF) will take place at the historic Kultuurikatel. This year, the organisers promise a grand celebration of flavours, bringing together the best roasters, baristas and importers from across Europe. At the same time, the famous Jazzkaar jazz festival will also take place in the Estonian capital, making this weekend truly unforgettable.
Anniversary scale: 10 years of coffee culture in Estonia
Tallinn Coffee Festival 2026 marks an important milestone in the development of the Baltic beverage industry. Over the past decade, the festival has grown from a local event into the region's largest event, attracting professionals and enthusiasts from around the world. This year, the organizers are preparing a special program to celebrate the anniversary on an unprecedented scale.
The tenth festival promises to be the largest ever. More than seventy companies are expected to participate, including both large industrial producers and small artisan roasteries (micro-roasters). Visitors can discover the latest trends in the global coffee industry, try exclusive varieties and learn the secrets of making the perfect cup from renowned masters.
Special attention will be paid to international cooperation in the anniversary year. Representatives of well-known European brands and independent experts will attend the festival. Invited guests include Jonas Gehl, co-founder and CEO of the Copenhagen-based Prolog Coffee, who will give a lecture on the meaning of quality in specialty coffee. Also expected is the founder of the Lithuanian project Crooked Nose & Coffee Stories, Emanuelis Ryklyse the presentation of the book “The Storyteller’s Guide to the Coffee”.
More than just coffee: tea, wine and gastronomy
Despite its name, Tallinn Coffee Festival has long since grown beyond being merely a coffee event. It is a true celebration for all gourmets and connoisseurs of high-quality beverages. Even if you are not a coffee lover, there will still be plenty for you to enjoy at the festival.
The organisers have prepared an extensive area dedicated to alternative beverages. Visitors can sample premium teas, including the popular matcha (the festival will feature the leading United Kingdom brand PerfectTed and the Estonian representative Moya Matcha). Those with a sweet tooth will be delighted by hot chocolate and artisanal cocoa, while natural lemonades, kombucha and artisanal syrups will provide refreshment.
The festival's gastronomic section will not leave anyone indifferent either. The food area will offer delicious snacks, fresh pastries, signature desserts and street food from Tallinn's best restaurants and cafés. The event will also offer high-quality wine and other alcoholic beverages for purchase, perfectly complementing the weekend's palette of flavors.
Event programme: competitions, masterclasses and tastings
The Tallinn Coffee Festival 2026 programme is packed with events for both industry professionals and everyday coffee lovers. Over the two days, Kultuurikatel will host lectures, masterclasses, cuppings (professional tastings) and spectacular barista competitions.
Saturday, April 25: the art and science of latte art
The first day of the festival begins with a major championship Estonian Latte Art Throwdown 2026. The country’s best baristas will compete in the art of creating patterns in milk foam. Spectators can watch the masters’ virtuoso work and cheer on their favorites. The competition final and the award ceremony for the winners will take place in the second half of the day.
An exciting new feature this year is the coffee research area, organised by Läti Maaülikool (Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies). Visitors can take part in a real scientific experiment by evaluating various aspects of the perception of coffee's taste and aroma.
For professionals and advanced enthusiasts, cupping sessions will be held by leading green coffee importers such as Bero Polska and Sucafina. This is a unique opportunity to try rare coffee varieties from around the world and learn to distinguish the subtlest flavour notes.
Special attention should be paid to the masterclass Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, an expert and a certified judge at international coffee competitions. She talks about how to achieve consistency and world championship-level quality in a café's daily operations.
Sunday, 26 April: Cupping championship and sustainability
Sunday's programme begins with Estonian Cupping Championship 2026 – the national professional coffee tasting championship. Participants must identify differences between cups in a blind tasting, demonstrating the incredible sensitivity of their taste buds.
An important topic on the second day is sustainability and ecology in the coffee industry. The organization Fairtrade and representatives of environmental projects will discuss the impact of new European Union legislation on coffee producers in Latin America, Africa and Asia, as well as on local roasteries. This discussion offers an opportunity to view a cup of coffee from the perspective of the global economy and ethical consumption.
The educational programme concludes with a lecture by Michalis Dimitrakopoulos on the impact of water on the taste of coffee. The expert will explain how temperature, pressure and the mineral composition of water shape the final result in the cup.
The perfect weekend: Coffee and jazz
The dates of Tallinn Coffee Festival 2026 coincide with another landmark event – the international jazz festival Jazzkaar (25 April – 2 May 2026). This creates a unique synergy, turning Tallinn into an epicentre of culture and fine taste.
On Saturday, 25 April, visitors to Kultuurikatel can look forward to the project’s “Kohvijazz” (Coffee Jazz) musical surprises as part of the project. Mini-concerts and unexpected musical performances by Jazzkaar participants will take place directly in the coffee festival area. The combination of the aroma of freshly roasted coffee and live jazz music will create a unique spring festival atmosphere.
After visiting the coffee festival, guests can continue the evening at one of the many Jazzkaar concerts, enjoying performances by world-renowned jazz stars and talented Estonian artists.
